Accident Sends Horses And Jockeys Flying On Derby Day At Churchill Downs

KENTUCKY - A scary moment unfolded on Derby day at Churchill Downs in Louisville, KY before Nyquist's big win. An unusual accident caused jockey's and horses to hit the turf hard during a race right before the 142nd running of The Kentucky Derby.

On the final stretch of The Woodford Reserve Turf Classic the horse named Kasaqui tripped causing another horse named Tourist to fall over. Both Jockeys flew off as their horses hit the ground hard. The track vet says both horses and their riders appear to be OK saying:

"They galloped past the wire and around the turn. Both are bearing weight on all limbs, walking comfortably on the back side."
