As also noted at Twitchy, this firing means that Chris Christie has already publicly held more government officials accountable for vendetta-caused lane closures on a bridge than President Obama has canned for IRS abuses, Benghazi or the Obamacare debacle put together:
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie apologized on Thursday for a traffic jam scandal involving his staff, saying he was embarrassed and humiliated, and fired a top aide “because she lied to me.”
Christie said he was blindsided but ultimately responsible for staff actions “under my watch.” “We fell short of expectations,” Christie said. But, he added, “I had no knowledge or involvement in this issue, in its planning or execution.”
Now it’s looking like the feds are going to get involved in the investigation of bridge lane closures:
A source with knowledge of the plans said that the United States attorney for New Jersey, Paul J. Fishman, would announce the investigation on Thursday morning.
The decision to open an inquiry came after the matter was referred to the office by the inspector general for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which controls the bridge, the source said.
I can’t wait to see what kind of “bridge crossing disenfranchisement” case Eric Holder is able to help build.
Because of his warm relationship with Chris Christie, President Obama might personally ask the DOJ to go easy:
