Ohio Zoo Officials Use Gun To Kill Gorilla And Save 4 Year-old Boys Life Who Fell Into Enclosure

OHIO - The Cincinnati Zoo shot and killed an endangered western lowland gorilla on Saturday. A 4-year-old boy slipped and fell into the 400 pound gorilla's enclosure.

The gorilla has been identified as Harambe, a 17-year-old. The animal was captured on video below carrying the boy around the zoo for about 10 minutes. The zoo's dangerous animal response team was deployed. The team considered the situation to be life-threatening and the decision was made to use a rifle to shot and kill the gorilla.
