The mother of executed American photo-journalist James Wright Foley, 40, has issued a statement after a video surfaced Tuesday showing his horrific beheading by ISIS terrorists as revenge for U.S. airstrikes in Iraq. Foley has been missing since Thanksgiving 2012.
Diane Foley on the Free James Foley Facebook page, that she and husband John 'have never been prouder of our son Jim'.
Mrs Foley continues to say that her son spent his life fighting to expose the suffering of the Syrian people, and pleads with the terrorist group ISIS to release remaining prisoner Steven Joel Sotloff who also appears to be the group's next target.
'We implore the kidnappers to spare the lives of the remaining hostages. Like Jim, they are innocents. They have no control over American government policy in Iraq, Syria or anywhere in the world.
'We thank Jim for all the joy he gave us. He was an extraordinary son, brother, journalist and person.'
Islamic militants made claims in a video released Tuesday that there were holding U.S. journalist Steven Sotloff and said his life depended on U.S. President Barack Obama's next move.
"The life of this American citizen, Obama, depends on your next decision," said a masked man in the video that was posted on social media, speaking English with a distinct British accent.
The video could not immediately be verified by the United States Government.
