DOLAN SPRINGS, Arizona. - Police officials say a shooting instructor died after he was accidentally shot in the head by a 9-year-old girl.

Mohave County Sheriff's officials tell us 39-year-old Charles Vacca, of Lake Havasu City, passed away Monday after being shot in the face at the Last Stop shooting outdoor range in White Hills Arizona.

Officers say Charles Vacca was airlifted to the University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada for treatment.

Investigators believe Vacca was standing next to the girl while he was instructing her how to use an automatic Uzi weapon when the unfortunate accident occurred. Authorities think recoil was to blame when the girl pulled the trigger. The gun was sent over her head causing the victim to be hit.

Police say the girl was at the shooting range with her parents.
