WASHINGTON - Donald Trump has received a lot of criticism for his remarks about temporarily banning muslims from entering the United States until officials know what is going on. Interestingly this is not the first time the United States has done such a thing.
During a speech on April 7th, 1980 Democratic President Jimmy Carter announced the United States cutting relations with the Khomeinist regime in Iran. This met banning Iranian immigrants and deporting students during the hostage crisis.
