LOUISVILLE - We have an update to the story we brought you yesterday about man who was shot while attempting to rob a woman Tuesday just after 6 p.m. in downtown Louisville, KY.
Anti-gun activists have taken to the internet arguing only trained officers should be armed and able to shoot someone. Now a legal expert is weighing in on the issue.
A young woman was getting into her car at the Starks building parking garage near Fifth and Liberty when a man put a knife to her throat and demanded her purse and money. The woman reached inside her purse as if she were going to give her wallet but instead grabbed her gun, pulled it out and shot him.
"If you're in your home or your vehicle and someone is invading your home or your vehicle, you have the right repel that invasion with deadly force. If this man is robbing her, he has hit her, he has a knife to her throat, she has every right in the world to shoot him."
"Good for her, thank God she had that gun, and the training and she was able to use it and she's home safe with her friends and her family." explained Brian Butler, a Louisville attorney.
