CALIFORNIA - A San Jacinto burglar learned why you do not mess with a 92-year-old World War II vet. According to police, the criminal used an ax to smash Joe Milspa's door in the 1400 block of Chase Street around 11 a.m. Sunday morning.
Sgt. Craig McDonald of the San Jacinto Police Department says Mispa “suddenly saw an exterior glass window of the home shatter, followed by the suspect attempting to crawl into his home through the window".
Milspa, a World War II veteran who lives alone, heard the noise and approached the door with his handgun. Milspa fired one round at the intruder saying “I could have shot him right in the head between the eyes. But I didn’t want to do that. I would have been in trouble."
Before retiring Milspa worked as a mechanic for the Los Angeles Police Department for 21 years. Milspa has had the gun for decades and still enjoys going to the shooting range.
