BREAKING: Louisville public school district votes to become "Safe Haven" for refugees

KENTUCKY - Tuesday the Jefferson County Public School District in Louisville, KY announced the passing of a new resolution declaring JCPS a 'Safe Haven' school district. Under the new safe haven rule the school district will not inquire about a student's immigration status or provide any information to federal or local agencies without a court order.

The controversial resolution passed with four JCPS school board members (Chris Brady, Diane Porter, Christopher Kolb and Lisa Willner) voted in favor of the resolution. Three board members (Steph Horne, Linda Duncan and Ben Gies) abstained and no one voted against the new policy.

The proposed resolution declaring JCPS a Safe Haven School District passes. Four Board members voted in favor and three abstained.
