CANADA - Rosaire Turcotte says he has no idea why his drone fell out of the air. Turcotte is under investigation after his 2.7-pound DJI Phantom 3 drone fell out of the sky and hit 38-year-old Stéphanie Creignou on her head on June 11, 2016 in Quebec.
Creignou was standing in a public crowd watching a 5K in Quebec when she was suddenly knocked unconscious and had to be rushed to the hospital from the out of control falling DJI drone. Stéphanie Creignou suffered whiplash and has not been able to go back to work and was forced to cancel numerous family events and vacation with her husband.
Video of the DJI Phantom drone accident was surprisingly recorded by another drone operated by professionals. VTOL-X Drones, provides drone services and was hired by event organizers to record aerial footage of the 5K race. VTOL-X Drones reportedly questioned Rosaire Turcotte about operating his drone unsafely moments before the accident.
